Move or Copy? Yes. What?

Okay, so I am a stickler for correct English. Yes, some people still care about how we all speak and write. And for someone like myself, I am in a constant state of frustration because bad English seems inescapable. And at times, it seems that it comes from everywhere, waiters, tellers, friends, professors, doctors, but one would think that at least the English of your computer should be virtually (pun intended) perfect. Right? Well, no. Let’s take a look into Windows, the bestest operating system ever!

When I jumped on my Mother’s computer to help her solve a technical dilemma, I was grammatically attacked by a pop-up window. And yes, it did hurt, but I am okay. I was asked to choose between two options, yet given a selection of yes or no. Let me show you.

Goodbye Plastic Bags!

4_2c_plastic.jpg
Convenience VS. Ecology
Stop Plastic!

Plastic bags were just outlawed (first in California, where else?) from the supermarkets. Then from drugstores. Plastic bags have come to be no more, no longer used, no longer manufactured for California. Now, it’s soon for your state. Why?

Why it’s for the good of the environment, Honey! Plastic doesn’t decompose in landfills. It lasts and outlasts. California (always first) has put a “stop” law on these bags to keep them out of landfills, out of the ocean. Have you ever seen the news reports of this gigantic doughnut of plastic stuff in the ocean that’s continuously and permanently circling upon itself, goosed by ocean currents?

Bush’s Ethanol Blunder

The Ethanol Blunder has happened. President Bush in his 2007 State of the Union Address set our course for an all ethanol fuel nation. The “decider” proclaimed our nation to go, team, go ethanol all the way.

Killing the Economy

Killing Jobs, Killing the Economy — that’s what your old company is doing. Mergers, takeovers, buy-outs, cutting costs to be competitive. Where the savings, where the money made by our bosses is found in racking up the lowest score in the number of salaries that no longer need to be paid. Ignore their PR of good intentions for their customers; look below the surface and it’s job cuts that are the real reasons behind it all. Service and better products? No, now the number one best way to “make” money is to let go of most of your workers.

Obama: It’s Time to Talk!

Senator Barack Obama
Barack Obama may have made our generation’s “I have a dream” speech.

Barack Obama made a speech a couple of days ago that rocked the minds of those that truly understand our present societal problems. Those that have the perceptual abilities to see past the bullshit and petty distractions are gearing up for a new wave of public discussion. I strongly feel that Senator Obama is the leader, the inspiration this country has needed for decades.

Fill Up the Tank!

backseatkids.jpg
Who’s next?

Just imagine a world where …

She looked at the back cargo hold and counted the children. “If we must,” she said, “let it be Josh.”

“Let’s try for a hitchhiker instead,” he said. “R9 has always been good for hunting hitchhikers. If I can trap three hitchhikers, Josh can be saved for another trip.”

Candy Answers

WHY?!!

What happened? Why did it happen? Why did we lose? Doc, I want a second opinion. The facts, madam, just the facts. The weather as a scapegoat. Who did it? What malfunctioned? Why? Why? Why? When, exactly, did he snap? Where was I then at that precise moment? What actually happened on November 22, 1863? Answers, answers, answers, we demand answers!

A plane crashes and after an investigation the public is told all 97 passengers died due to a ruptured hydraulic line. That solves the mystery and everyone except the families can get on with their everyday stuff. Also, everyone in on the know can erase that mind slate and … what? Forget about it! So was anything really learned; what steps were taken to prevent a history of these things happening again and again? Does it matter? Not really. Only being given an answer to why the plane crashed matters. Any answer would have satisfied just as well.

Where Did We Go Wrong?

worry.jpg
Oh, boy!

Where did we go wrong? When did we go wrong? Or was it going wrong over a decade rather than one specific day?

If you don’t know what I’m talking about/getting you to know about, then read or listen to or watch today’s news, tomorrow’s news, next week’s news, next month’s news. It will all be the same: the economy, stupid. Or more to the point, you and yours truly, and my life, too: what we eat, what we wear, where we live, how we work (how we work — ha!) and how we play.

Recipe For a Dying Planet

bear1.jpg
I’m losing my ice.

We may see most of the symptoms, but not the patient or hidden illnesses. The symptoms are many; the most recognized one today is global warming; then there’s the strange, but not so strange, maladies in humans, animals, plants and trees caused by “contaminated” water, bad air, “contaminated” food. And radiation. And more.

It has taken a long time for some people, even those leaders, to accept climate change. It will be beyond them, and us, to accept a harsher fact. And that is, the planet is dying. Many parts of the recipe were already there, like the dwindling number of species.

US Problems Solved: Cut Spending, Close Bases!

notible article

Snipped from PopulistAmerica.com.

Now here is someone that actually thinks with his cerebrum, and not his penis. While I was reading this, I kept saying to myself, “this is exactly what I have been saying … damn it, why is this type of thinking so rare?” If one wants to truly solve our geopolitical problems, then close all of our military bases, cut military spending by half or MORE, and bring every single troop home. Militarily speaking, become an isolationist nation.

Take all the left over money (hundreds of billions of dollars) that would go to the military (for killing, scaring people) and then become more diplomatic, philanthropic and giving. This way, we are not threating, bullying, coercing or manipulating nations into hating us, but winning over the hearts and minds of other nations … sound familiar?
