Are You Ready to Take Your Government Back?

us.jpg

If you have been following the national polls lately, you can see that there has been a shift in American’s opinion of party loyalty. More and more people are moving away from Democrat or Republican and toward being an Independent. Why? Because people today don’t see either party working in their interest. Both parties have proven to be strong supporters of special interests and powerful lobbying groups. If you don’t believe me, look into the weak Ethics Bill and the even weaker Earmarks Bill in which both parties had their chance for true reform. But they don’t really want reform. Everything is working out just fine with them. It’s just us damn voters that keeping screaming for change. So, the time is ripe for another populist movement. But where are the campaigners for true reform? Where is the people’s voice?

The Crash of 1929: Are We on the Verge of a Repeat?

notible article

Snipped from alternet.org.

I’ll be the first to admit that I have failed miserably in every foray of mine into the stock market. So, for those who know how to play the game, my hat goes off to you. With the huge loss yesterday in the market, I am wondering if it doesn’t foretell a future disaster in the making. So, with all the negativity in the country from the sub-prime market and housing taking a beating, I am concerned that yesterday may be just the beginning of a true stock market disaster. So when I came across the article in alternet.org concerning a repeat of the 1929 market crash, I just had to read it. The article is extremely well written because even I was able to grasp the dire situation that our “hyper-real” stock market is in. You may find this article will help your understanding of what is really behind this new term, but old strategy, called “naked shorting” and exactly what this means to giant hedge funds of today.

The Farce of ‘Executive Privilege’

notible article

Snipped from AlterNet.org.

Every time I hear the President invoke ‘Executive Privilege’, it infuriates me that he considers himself above the law. What gives him the right to not comply with subpoenas like everyone else? That being the case, I got to wondering how this ‘Executive Privilege’ thing ever came about. So, when I came across an article that finally puts the whole issue to rest with an informative explanation of what it is and where it came from, I thought I would post it on our site. You may be surprised that this handy little legal tactic is not even a part of our Constitution. Matter of fact, it was one of our more contemporary Presidents who first coined the term.

History: The Evolution of the Republican Party

The Republican party or otherwise known as the Grand Old Party (GOP), was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers who rose to power with the election of Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president. It is the younger of the two major political parties and presided over the Civil War and Reconstruction but was marginalized by internal factions and scandals towards the end of the 19th century. Then early in the 20th century

Creationist Museum: You’ve Gotta Love the Irony

adam and eve
Note: Not an actual image
of Adam and Eve.

Actor playing Adam was discovered to be a porn star!

As usual, I am surfing the internet to find articles of interest, and low and behold I find two things that are absolutely hilarious to me. My first discovery was something I would consider “hypocritical irony”. At a newly opened Creationist Museum, they had a “play” about Adam and Eve, and their special garden. The man who was playing Adam in the Garden of Eden, also owns a graphic web site called “Bedroom Acrobat”. (Don’t you just love it.) Bedroom Acrobat is a site that allows members to post explicit stories and photos.

Why is U.S. Such a War-Mongering Nation?

japanesebomber.jpgWhy is it that our American leaders don’t seem to learn from past mistakes involving military conflicts? Whenever I get involved in a debate about Vietnam or Iraq, it seems so obvious to me and others that military force or hegemony just doesn’t work anymore. But, here we are again involved in an armed conflict with no end in sight, and a presidential candidate singing the praises of war. Can’t they see that old truths about war and warriors are no longer useful? What exactly has happened to change this, and why do we still adamantly cling to the old warrior ways?

Where The Right Went Wrong: From a Former Neoconservative

francisfukuyama.jpegIn doing my research for What the White House Doesn’t Want You to Know, I came across a former Neoconservative, Francis Fukuyama, who has turned his back on his Neocon colleagues and is now speaking out about where they went wrong. In his latest book called, America at the Crossroads: Democracy, Power, and the Neoconservative Legacy, Fukuyama outlines his thinking. It is a fascinating look into what has happened to the Republican party that has turned so many people against them, even their own members including me.

Ever Wonder What Bush Would Get On A Report Card?

gradeontest.jpgIf you are like me, you wonder where all the accountability went with our country, and in particular, with our government. Remember back in the day when you were in school, and it all came down to your final report card? If you messed around too much, it would show on your report card, and that would lead to an ass whooping if it wasn’t good enough. Well, don’t you wish our government had that same accountability? You aren’t alone, and an intellectual that is a professor of American foreign policy at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies named Zbigniew Brzezinski graded our last three presidents, and it isn’t pretty. And, if anyone can judge their performance, it is Brzerzinski.

What The White House Doesn’t Want You To Know: Part III

israel.jpgIn Part II of this series of articles, the influence on the White House by the Neocons is reflected in the number of high ranking officials who are supporters of Leo Strauss and zionism. These two ideologies promote the power elite, and the pro-militaristic approach to foreign policy especially in regards to Israel’s security in the Middle East. In this article, I will deal with the impact of this influence on America and it’s foreign policy, but first, we need to better understand the connection between the Neocons and zionism.
