Top Ten Signs You Had too Much to Drink

Being that we have had some pretty serious, depressing political rants on here lately, I thought I would lighten it up a little bit. So I decided to post some very important public safety information regarding knowing when you have had too much to drink.
I know we have all been there but often times, we wait until it’s too late and then we end up not even knowing how we got home.
So, the next time you pick up that bottle of beer or dry martini, maybe you’ll remember this list. So, here they are…
7 commentsWill Durst’s Incredible, Inexhaustible Rant on Bush

I came across this video on alternet.org of the incredibly talented Will Durst. This video just about says it all. I couldn’t wait to put it on our blog because Will Durst, known as the “thinking man’s comic”, says just about everything I have ever thought about George W. Bush in a couple of very long sentences. Durst’s incredible rant is reminiscent of George Carlin’s intelligent and satirical rants about foul language or any of his other irreverent diatribes against the social/political machine. Will Durst is the man who the New York Times described as “the best political satirist working in America”. He is currently starring in his Off-Broadway show called The All-American Sport of Bipartisan Bashing. Part of this clip showcases his marvelous talent for incisive observation and spot-on analysis of the Bush administration. It is simply delightful and definitely worth checking out. 2 commentsAmerica’s Constant Meddling Hurting Iraq

When I read the criticism being aimed at Nouri al-Maliki in Iraq last week, I couldn’t help but think how we can further screw up a mess that is already fatally screwed up. What is particularly disturbing were remarks that were made by Senator John Warner who after spending two days in Iraq, unequivocally stated that Maliki needed to go. Now, don’t get me wrong. Maliki doesn’t appear to be the man for the job. But after all, that should be left up to the Iraqi people. He is a duly elected Prime Minister of a sovereign nation and a bold, new democracy that we propped up…uh, I mean that we helped get established. So, who are we to say who stays in charge or not? This is similar to calls for partitioning of Iraq on the part of U.S. politicians as though Iraq were some sort of offshore American colony. I firmly believe our constant meddling is what is hurting Iraq the most. But the U.S. government seems to be completely obsessed with not only preemptive democracy, but constant meddling. When will we ever learn?

The World Trade Center Collapse Conspiracy

Snipped from newsvine.com.
Okay guys, I’m not into conspiracy theories but this article really caught my attention. First of all, it is written by a mechanical engineer from the U.K. who I wouldn’t think would have any particular agenda. And, second of all, even though the math is way above my head, it looks real. For any of you mechanical engineers or physicists out there, maybe you can share your knowledge on this subject. This has to do with why the total collapse of the World Trade Center Towers goes against basic physics laws. But I guess, the real question is, if the towers didn’t collapse from the impact/explosion of the airplanes, what did make them collapse and exactly who was behind it?

Bill Maher: What I Did On My Summer Vacation

This is a great way to end the week. I came across another Bill Maher genius video on the Huffington Post. What can I say? The man just has a way with words. His comments regarding Iraq, the Democrats and politicians in general is spot on and really funny. I enjoy his intelligent, satirical humor especially when it makes me laugh out loud. Thanks Bill! I love to end the week this way especially when all the news seems to be so depressing. To watch this funny video click here. It just might raise your spirits. And, have a great weekend!
1 commentHealth Alert: Lead Exposure and Cataracts

Being that I have had very high levels of lead in my body for which I have had years of treatment, I can relate to the dangerous side effects from lead poisoning. The funny thing about it is that I got it down to an acceptable level about 2 years ago with treatment, got off treatment, then the high levels came right back. It just shows you how incredibly polluted our environment is. Well, now it seems that another dangerous side effect of lead is cataracts. All the findings that keep coming out about the high levels of environmental toxins, chemicals and heavy metals is frightening. Now we have one more reason to be concerned.

Bush Cited for Breaking the Law on Climate Change

Finally something is being done to call out the Bush administration for their unethical and now even illegal suppression of data concerning global warming. Thank God for groups like the Center for Biological Diversity who sued the government in violation of U.S. law by failing to produce a study on the impact of global warming. Evidently there is a little known Global Change Act of 1990 that requires the government to update a research plan and scientific assessment of climate change. But hey, this is George W., he doesn’t have to follow the law. He has proven that over and over. So, what does this mean to the administration?

Seven Iraq Vets: “The War As We Saw It”

Snipped from alternet.org.
Whenever I get a chance to read something first hand from Iraq from those who are on the ground fighting and living this disastrous war, I read it. It’s one thing for a politician to spend a couple of days in Iraq or a commanding general who has a dog in the fight, but it’s totally something else when someone who is on the front lines telling it like it is. This piece is extremely well written and pretty much objective from what I can see. It is certainly worth a read. Maybe you’ll learn something. I did.

Rove’s Failed Master Plan for the Republican Party

When I heard that Karl Rove was resigning from the Bush White House, I was delighted. I have felt for some time now that Rove’s master plan for a permanent one-party system in the U.S. would destroy everything that this country has stood for. With a multi-prong strategy based on establishing loyal “Bushies” in every square inch of our government, he actually got pretty close. And, it’s scary when you think that he almost got away with it. But of course, the funny thing about life is that the more you try to control something, the more slippery it gets. And, nothing could be more obvious when you look at all the dirty little tricks that Rove has perpetuated on our democracy over the last 6 years. But, it seems in the last year or so though, the more Rove tried to impose and permeate conservatism in government, the more people became suspicious. And, in time, it became obvious that the whole White House gang was entrenched in their delusions of grandeur. People were starting to catch on. It’s like that old saying…”You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.” So, exactly how far did Rove go in fooling us?

The Difference Between Us and Them

Snipped from dailykos.com.
In observing the propaganda that Republicans spew forth every day about “fighting them there instead of here” and “Iraq being the major front on terrorism”, etc., I get the impression that fear is about all their party has to offer. I have always felt that this campaign of fear is what many Americans fell for early in the Iraq invasion. But now that we have had time to step back and look at what really exists in the world, we can see that the boogie man may not exist in every mosque. But to hear the way Republicans talk, we are surely headed for disaster if we let up one inch in our war on terror. Why are they so caught up in fear-mongering and how is it hurting us?
