Black v. White: When Is Race an Issue?

Today is the day that President Obama sits down with Professor Gates and Officer Crowley to have a beer and talk race, class and law. So, to celebrate this day, I thought I would offer a little background to this issue from my perspective. But first, a question. When is race an issue?

“The Political Philosophy of Jesus”
If you haven’t been paying attention, you might be missing something that is, at the very root of our constitutional republic, so corrosive and damaging to our nation. The Family as they have been called, but are also known as C Street Center, is this very strange, secretive organization that is highly evangelical and is made up of our congressmen and senators.
These politicians are responsible for supporting some of the most fundamentally conservative movements within our government, and their mission, from their own mouths mind you, is to fill as many seats within our political system with highly charged and evangelical, Christian “politicians” as they can.
Unfortunately, this is not just to convert America to the Evangelical religion, but to have a network of many leaders all over the world that support this same “political philosophy of Jesus.” I am not going out on a limb here, this is all real. No subjectivity. Our very own, very powerful Senator Jim Inhofe has been making trips to Africa on the tax payers dollar and representing our nation’s government while being very intimately tied to this Evangelical movement. Cold Press: The Secret to the Perfect Brew
I, like many others, am a huge fan of a good cup of joe, but I wasn’t always a fan. Unfortunately, for most of my life, I hated anything that was bitter. I absolutely despised many things green (steamed broccoli, mustard greens, spinach … ) because it always tasted really bitter to me. I didn’t find out until later in my life that I have a different genetic configuration for my taste perception than that of my parents. This allowed my parents to enjoy a side of broccoli while I choked the horribly bitter things down during dinner. Ah, but I digress.
Let’s get back to the topic at hand. Coffee was one of those things that just tasted too bitter for me to enjoy. The only way I enjoyed a coffee beverage was driving to Starbucks and ordering a Mocha Frappuccino. That is until I discovered that heat was the reason the coffee was bitter, and cold brewing coffee was a bitter-less alternative. Cold brewing is a way of extracting all the goodness out of the coffee bean without the acidic components that cause the bitterness. What you get is the best tasting cup of coffee that you will ever have.
