Well, probably with everyone else, I heard that Palin made a policy speech a couple of days ago about special needs children. I had the reaction of, (a) “What the hell does she know about special needs children other than dragging hers around?” and (b) “Out of all the policies to discuss, she chooses special needs … fantastic!” I don’t know how McCain is going to handle our economy, our foreign policy or regulation of corporate conglomerates, but at least I will know how they handle special needs children, right?
Well, it looks like Palin just exposed to the public that she has indeed reached the Peter Principle. She mentions in the speech about earmarks (go figure) and their funding for “pet projects”. She wants to cut all of that and get to the real research for special needs children. Here is a portion of the speech:
“Where does a lot of that earmark money end up, anyway? [...] You’ve heard about, um, these — some of these pet projects they really don’t make a whole lot of sense, and sometimes these dollars they go to projects having little or nothing to do with the public good. Things like fruit fly research in Paris, France. I kid you not!”
Does this ignorant woman know why they are doing the fruit fly research? Obviously not, because this specific fruit fly research if for discovering the genes responsible for autism. Here is what a writer from Huffington Post wrote about this hilarious goof (there are links within the quote below that take you to the specific research):
This was a speech on autism, and Palin’s critics have pounced on the fact that a recent study of Drosophila fruit flies showed that a protein called neurexin is essential for proper neurological function — a discovery with clear implications for autism research.
I can’t wait, if she gets elected, until she starts rambling on about foreign affairs, global warming, domestic policy and/or any other highly complex and dynamic subject with nothing more than a “hockey mom” type background. No, I am not sexist for saying that. She is the one that decided to step on to that stage with such ignorance. No one, no matter their skin, sex or age, should step up for such a job and then cry when the going gets tough.
Anyways, again, proof of Palin’s ignorance and arrogance to think she can handle such responsibility. She definitely is no Hillary Clinton. Shit, I have to go study! [POOF, Cerebrl out!]
