I have always been a fan of Rap, not the new, fake, materialist, shallow rap, I am talking about the deep, progressive, socio-political movement called Rap. Remember Grandmaster Flash with White Lines; NWA with their songs about political injustices within the black communities; Public Enemy and nearly all of their work? It was about getting all of America to listen to what was really happening to the blacks in America. Shining a light on the shadows of African-American life, and conjuring up a conscious awareness to what was happening beneath the veneer of white media.

Yea, I’d say something got stimulated, just not in the way Bush wanted. I don’t think anyone is really surprised about this. I sure as hell am not. I predicted, like many others, that it would go to bills, credit card debt or some kind of debauchery. Who in the hell is going to think to themselves, “Hey, I got $300 or $600; I am just going to blow it on some stupid, materialist trinket or dohicky when gas prices are going sky high, and I am living off of credit card loans. That’s a great idea!”

For years, for as long as anyone could remember, Bobbie John was the arbitrator and, like President Bush, the decider. Under his command were 200 living souls. Why did they come to Bobbie John to settle disputes, have him suggest whom to marry, all that day-to-day “important” stuff for those 200 living, breathing souls?
