Thoughtcrime Bill Passes House

Okay, this bill is quite interesting. The bill, Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 or HR 1955, is causing some uproar ‘within the know’. The mainstream media is just not covering it at all, at least from what I have seen. This bill seems pretty harmless on the surface, but at a deeper look, one may see how its ambiguity could be spun to mean anything that causes dissent from the ‘norm’. The term ‘thoughtcrime bill’ has been said quite a bit within the blogging circles, and I can see their point.

The only thing that makes this slightly palatable is their thorough use of the term violence. Now they do say “planned use, or threatened use,” but here we go again with this criminalization before the act has even been committed. So, how does one prove that someone is going to do something. Hence the term ‘thoughtcrime’.

Then we have to look at what kind of violence is this referring to. Are we talking about a fist fight among dis-agreers or blowing up a skyscraper? What if you are part of some organization doing a march for peace, and someone gets into an argument with a cop. Is that violent? Can they then arrest the whole organization saying that it was a ‘violent radical organization with an agenda, terrorists.?’

OpenCongress.org writes how they have collected more than a 150 blog articles discussing the bill, but only 15 news articles covering the same story. This is disturbing considering there was absolutely no public discourse about this bill.

RogueGovernment.com has posted that it has passed the House with virtually no opposition. This is basically communicating that the public and the government are now acting completely independent of each other.

Remember that whole saying from the past — “No taxation without representation”? Well, here it is again, yet this time, there is no revolt, no uproar, just mindless and idiotic shopping. Good job America, way to fight for your right to shop!

If you would actually like do something about this, then contact your local senator and tell them not to vote for this bill. Hurry, as time is running out.
