Tell Me Blackwater Ain’t So, Ma.

Blackwater mercenaries in Iraq.
Will you please tell me what’s going on? I want to see if you’re holding out, or what, because maybe I missed it. But, I think this is between the lines of the blogs and the media news stories. A coverup of a coverup. Then a smooth-it-out job.
I’m talking about the disgusting Blackwater mess. You might be as confused as I am whether they are leaving or are not leaving Iraq. The U.S. is supposed to be into arranging departure terms, so to speak, and they’re to leave within six months. It takes that long to find replacements, I believe. But in the meantime, Blackwater is back on the job, and Eric Prince, head of Blackwater is on TV this weekend trying to drum up moral support for his civilian Blackwater employees.
So are they going to stay or not? Time will tell, and that’s about what it is: timing this thing out so everyone forgets about it, especially the Iraqis. //Dream again!// Question: Why is it that in the states, a cop, who shoots and kills someone, ends up on the desk until the police investigation clears them? So then, why not the blackwater shooters?
One has to notice this category of news story is always filed late on a Friday, with the true hope of not catching too much of the public’s and regular media’s attention. Just the attention of those who have coup and whose coup count.
Anyway. First, They ignored what Blackwater did because They need Blackwater; then They had to order not one, but two Department of Defense investigations, then They had Eric Prince, the head of Blackwater at a Congressional investigation, then They had an F.B.I. investigation and hell, it didn’t go way. Usually They say it’s being investigated and that silences the uproar of the public. The stink goes away. //not this time// And what? — the Iraqis go and hold their own investigation.
Whoa! so this time the Iraqis weren’t buying it. They weren’t satisfied with the traditional, regular coverup. They stuck to their guns, even said they had a video of the shooting incident –what happened to the video? Did I miss it? Next the Iraqi investigation: Blackwater is guilty as charged!
But then, hot damn! The Word From the Higher Power Came Down — fix this mother-f**ker or you’re broken down to a private, a private do you hear me! //they have a better term in the Army for private these days// You hear me? Make the U.S. military look good. Make them Iraqis think their people and ours are like bros.
AND SO, on the Friday the 12th of October which is //let me see, the incident happened on the 17th of September and it took them 20 minutes to get there to the scene, so the Army tells us 29 days later — that the on-the-scene Army guys, that is, found, not all twelve, fourteen, seventeen then … twenty-whatever that were killed and that means. Ah man — the hell with this! I can’t do this! How do you count the number of days in a SNAFU? You double-math it out for me; I’m going out for beer…. Millers merged with Coors, by the way.
Oh, a question: Say Blackwater leaves Iraq, will it be okay for Blackwater to be hired to work in Iran when our troops occupy Iran next? Just trying to plan ahead, here at b4b.

The results of the Department of State’s review of Blackwater are in, and now it’s time for Condoleezza Rice to read the report and assess the results of the Department of State’s investigation and its recommendations. Blackwater’s contract is up for renewal in May. Hold on to your hat until Rice gives her orders re Blackwater. So, it never was a matter of needing six months to find replacements.

The State Department panel called by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is ready to release its findings. Associated Press already has an advance news story. Check it out. The U.S. government will control contractors in Iraq more closely. Rice and Gates will work out the details. The advance story says nothing was said by the panel regarding the Blackwater incident. Check out tomorrow’s news for the full story.

Yes, you heard right on the news today:
The Department of State’s investigation into the Blackwater incident granted Blackwater immunity from prosecution. How does that wash with the Iraqis?

Did you hear correctly, on the news today: that Blackwater was granted immunity by the Department of state when it has no right to do that! This means, I understand, that the FBI is now interrogating them but can’t ask the Blackwater people questions to which they already/were assumed to have immunity. I haven’t seen all the news details yet but my first impression is Whoa! What a brilliant fix to get Blackwater out of this mess without taking any responsibilities. Think about it. Can you sit there with a straight face and tell me the Department of State doesn’t know what it can or cannot do? Maybe they should try and get Blackwater on income tax invasion. What? They did try that? You are kidding, aren’t you? Oh, does the Department of State hire any lawyers. If so, where did they go to law school? I have a matchbook cover degree in law from a school that advertises on books of matches.
