Tough Talk on Impeachment

Snipped from PBS.org.
Yes, the “I” word has come back into play big time which seems to be as a result of King George’s latest abuse of power which was the commutation of Scooter Libby. This almost seems like the straw that broke the camel’s back because the American public is angered by Bush’s blatant disregard for the rule of law by putting his cronies and himself above it. If you didn’t catch Bill Moyer’s interview of Bruce Fein, the nationally and internationally recognized expert on Constitutional law (who by the way is a conservative) and John Nichols of The Nation magazine, then you should check out the article and the video linked below. It is the most educated discourse I have seen on just what is happening to our country and why impeachment is the only fix for a president who is out of control.
As a patriot of this wonderful country and as a concerned citizen, I felt compelled to watch this interview. If you care anything about what is happening to your country, then watch it and then let those in power know that we are “fed up” with what is going on and we want Congress to do its Constitutional duty by starting the impeachment proceedings against Bush and Cheney.
Here is a portion of the article that reveals a little of why we have a Constitutional duty to impeach.
“The founding fathers expected an executive who tried to overreach and expected the executive would be hampered and curtailed by the legislative branch… They [Congress] have basically renounced — walked away from their responsibility to oversee and check.” — Bruce Fein
“On January 20th, 2009, if George Bush and Dick Cheney are not appropriately held to account this Administration will hand off a toolbox with more powers than any President has ever had, more powers than the founders could have imagined. And that box may be handed to Hillary Clinton or it may be handed to Mitt Romney or Barack Obama or someone else. But whoever gets it, one of the things we know about power is that people don’t give away the tools.” — John Nichols

Next, we’ll be hearing that Bush pardoned himself with the Gandfather clause.
Impeach Bush? About time!! On Friday, Georgia Rep. Cynthia McKinney introduced a bill to impeach President George W. Bush. Okay, so it was symbolic and the 36 Articles of Impeachment were referred to the Judiciary Committee to die. However, they were read by McKinney into the Congressional Record. And she’s right in saying, “No American is above the law.”
Bush has been searching for a way to cap off his last months in office. A Peace between Palestine and Israel? Nope! …until the last make-history scheme of “all options are on the table” for Iran, meaning Nuclear weapons. Yee! Gawk! Can’t we just give the man a gold pocket watch and be done with it?
