“The Redirection” (Or Just An Excuse to Bomb Iran?)

As though Bush’s foreign policy hasn’t done enough damage to our global reputation as an arrogant imperialist, we apparently are in the process of planning attacks on another country which is not an imminent threat. It appears that the Pentagon is continuing intensive planning for a possible bombing attack on Iran, a process that began last year, at the direction of the President. However, I smell a rat and its name is Dick. Why Congress is allowing this loose canon to continue to plot his evil intentions behind the scenes is beyond me. You won’t believe what Cheney and Company is up to now.

In recent months, it has been reported in the New Yorker article that a former intelligence official revealed that a special planning group has been established in the offices of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, charged with creating a contingency bombing plan for Iran that can be implemented, upon orders from the President, within twenty-four hours. The alarming news is that the Iran planning group has been handed a new assignment in which they are identifying targets in Iran that may be involved in supplying or aiding militants in Iraq. Previously, the focus had been on the destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities and possible regime change. But now, the new plan is being called a “redirection” and is being directed by Dick Cheney and his deputy national-security adviser Illiott Abrams, the departing ambassador to Iraq, and Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the Saudi natonal-security adviser.

This clandestine side guided by Cheney is the most scary to me because it is all in secret and has the potential to side step any Congressional authority because it would be promoted as a plan to reduce military casualities due to Iran’s supply of weapons into Iraq. The reason we should be alarmed is because Cheney and Co. realizes that they would not get Congressional or public support for bombing Iran due to its nuclear ambitions. So, they go to an alternative plan cooked up by Cheney and Saudi Arabia to bomb them for another reason even though the casualties from Iran’s interference is far less than the casualities imposed by the Sunni insurgents.

Here is a portion of the article that is alarming in its clandestine type operations echoing the same tactics as used by former President Reagan known as the Iran-Contra scandal.

Some of the core tactics of the redirection are not public, however. The clandestine operations have been kept secret, in some cases, by leaving the execution or the funding to the Saudis, or by finding other ways to work around the normal congressional appropriations process, current and former officials close to the Administration said.

The Bush Administration’s reliance on clandestine operations that have not been reported to Congress and its dealings with intermediaries with questionable agendas have recalled, for some in Washington, an earlier chapter in history. Two decades ago, the Reagan Administration attempted to fund the Nicaraguan contras illegally, with the help of secret arms sales to Iran. Saudi money was involved in what became known as the Iran-Contra scandal, and a few of the players back then—notably Prince Bandar and Elliott Abrams—are involved in today’s dealings.

  • Crude oil prices on November 01, 2007 reached a new record of $96 a barrel. What will the coming winter demand for oil do to its price here and in other countries? Oil prices have surged 20 percent in one month. This gives Bush 20 new reasons to take out Iran.

  • Rice and Castro join the debating team. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says that “Iran is a major obstacle to the U.S. vision of a Middle East in which nations” exist in a Nirvana of trade, investment and cooperation. This is truly an incidence of Kaka Propaganda working overtime. President Bush is planning for a new Cuba after Castro’s death and says so. Not-dead-yet Castro accuses President Bush of threatening the world with nuclear war and famine. Castro should know from firsthand experience.

  • Bush has joined the debating team and today declared that plans for a U.S.-led missile defense system in Europe are urgently needed. Bush's warning about Iran was contradicted also today by Russian Foreign Minster Sergey Lavrov. The U.S. was backing down yesterday as V.P. Dick Cheney ran into Putin’s “No way.” Now Bush takes the lead. All we need now is for our relevant Commander-in-Chief to restart the Cold War. I kid you not!

  • V.P. Cheney keeps telling Iran ain’t no way will we let Iran have nuclear weapons. It seems to me the more of a fuss made that other unarmed nations will ask themselves, hey, why not! Just like the Iraq war created more terrorists than ever; so too will Cheney’s posturing create more wannabe nations with nuclear war capabilities. Why, oh why, is there such a profession like the diplomatic corps?

  • It’s I-dare-you time. Vice President Dick Cheney warned today that the United States and other nations (certainly not Russia included) will not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. Period. You tell ‘em, Dick!

  • Boo! Mr. Air Force, you call for an investigation, maybe two, into why six nuclear bombs went astray on August 30th, plus days, I believe, in order to bring this to the forefront (good PR cover story) then as usual let it fade away with an investigation.

But I have a question. I don’t know the B-52H Stratofortress that well, if at all, //except that there are three in ever-constant action; at least one in the air at all times// and I’ve been wondering that if all six loaded bombs were placed on one wing and empty casings on the other wing, would that not make an uneven tilt to the plane as it flew along? Enough of a pull, that a pilot and copilot or computer would not notice? I think there may be an aerodynamic problem here that should have been worked out before the press release was distributed. Your news story, print and other media, did say these six big ba-boom bombs were loaded on one wing.

It is interesting to note between stories that yesterday or the day before, Putun of Russia warned the U.S. NOT to attack Iran or else. Now isn’t that a coincidence! A double wham with one press release. The fines were a brilliant touch for getting headline attention. Smooth as butter, almost. Why you scared the knickers off of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Putin. No wonder yesterday the price of oil went over $90 a barrel. Now who’s scared? By Gawk, your B-52H press release almost did the trick. Now it’s your turn to play another hand of Boo poker. Whose deal is it?

  • Correction: The correct name for CAP is Civil Air Patrol. I once was the training officer for the Washington County CAP. Shame on me for getting the name wrong!
  • The Air Force wants to fine, yes fine! for Big Bucks five officers responsible for loading those nuclear bombs on that B-52H that flew them over U.S. land going from from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota on August 30th to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. Who’s kidding whom here? FIne them. What is the air force? A pro baseball team? And officers? Since when do officers tug around those big BaBoom casings (and loaded, too) and shleph them into position under the wings of a B-52H Stratofortress?

Come on, no conspiracy here, just more of your PR b.s. there. It still hurts, and you PR guys come up with this? Fine the officers? Come on now! I know it does sound better this time around now that the incident is out of context. But people will check what was happening that week and who was in town (NYC) then. Next, you’ll be using the Civil Air Force as your scapegoat. Oh Gawk yourself to death!’

Hello Iran, Goodbye Iran. It seems our Commander-in-Chief has delegated words to General Petraeus to speak in his behalf. The last time, remember, was to talk about the Surge that’s “working.” The last time, remember, David left the numbers off his charts re Blackwater and company, 30,000 and some altogether,

Oh well. Now General David Petraeus, this time for Bush, is waving his hand, “Come on, Onward to Iran.” And again the General does the prep work for this for Bush. You may get yourself more into this subject of Bush prepping for war with Iran by reading Unum's above article, the above comments, and for Petraeus' remarks today by clicking on:

I had a nightmare of which I can only recall the tail end: The found-weapons-from-Iran evidence was bought on eBay and planted.

    Ooooh Gawk! Pinch me awake!
