FOX Poll on Debate: Ron Paul Gets Second!

ronpaul_flag.jpgWell folks there’s hope. I can’t believe this tiny bit of news that I came across this morning. No one is reporting this in the mainstream media, but it appears that Ron Paul may have more credibility than we thought. When Paul challenged the mainstream spin on 9/11 that the terrorists attacked us because they don’t like our freedom, I almost stood up and cheered. What Paul so clearly and concisely pointed out was that Osama Bin Lauden attacked us because of the establishment of American military bases in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War, which according to Islam is the most sacred of Muslim countries. Now in addition to the Saudi bases, we are now also considered a foreign occupier with 14 military bases in Iraq alone. There are consequences for this military hegemony and as Paul so correctly stated, and what is referred to by the CIA as “blowback”, we are suffering the consequences in form of terrorists attacks, specifically 9/11. So, what polls are these, and what are they saying about Ron Paul? You won’t believe what a Fox News poll had to say (what sweet irony!)…

Let’s get to the first poll that will blow your socks off. This is so hilarious! Fox News offered a text message for the Republican debate to get feedback from the TV audience about who they thought won the debate. Here are the results:

GOP Debate Text-Vote Results
— 29% Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney
— 25% Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas
— 19% Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani

Ron Paul was able to capture approximately 20 minutes of air-time on Fox alone, with about 10 minutes of debate questions and another 10 minutes which were attacks and dismissals by pundits, other candidates. Then there was an interview with Hannity & Colmes in which Sean Hannity stated his “surprise” that Ron Paul was leading with 30% of the FOX News text-message poll vote. He said this even though Paul also won the Republican debates on MSNBC. And, all the while that these polls were releasing news of Paul’s successes, the media under-reported and even censored it. However, even in light of their own poll, Fox News continued to report that John McCain had won the debate and that “Romney also did well because he is ‘handsome’ and spouted rhetoric about ‘God and country’”. [gag]

After several days from the first debate, the online MSNBC poll had Ron Paul leading in every single positive category. This appeared to indicate that the vast majority think he won the first debate. Unfortunately, this was not reported anywhere in the mainstream media. In an ABC News poll, well over 7,000 voted for the Congressman with Giuliani and Romney receiving only 100 votes each. In a CSPAN poll, it was reported that 69% voted for Ron Paul, with his nearest contender receiving just 9% of the vote. Ron Paul was also reported in the MSNBC poll to have had a lead by a huge margin in the South Carolina Republican debate.

Many would attribute this to be a reflection of focused online activism rather than overall national opinion. Either way, this tells us that the American people are crying out for a real conservative, and Ron Paul would be a serious contender for the White House if the media would allow equal coverage such as is given to Romney, McCain and Giuliani. Yet, with Ron Paul being the only real candidate talking about real issues, who is not completely bought and paid for the media conglomerates, I doubt that he can get the attention and dollars he needs to win. It’s a real loss for the American people because of what Ron Paul stands for, here is his record:

  • He has never voted to raise taxes.
  • He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
  • He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
  • He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
  • He has never taken a government-paid junket.
  • He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
  • He voted against the Patriot Act.
  • He voted against regulating the Internet.
  • He voted against the Iraq war.
  • He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
  • He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

His record further states, “Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress. He is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. And, Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the “one exception to the Gang of 535″ on Capitol Hill”. Now that’s the kind of guy I want to be President!

  • I figured you were sarcastic but I was just curious about what Richard was up in arms about.

Anyway, yeah of the Repubs running Ron Paul seems like the best option, but thats not saying much, I could pick a random person off the street and give them a 50/50 shot at being better than the Repub options. I actually know very little about the guy, I'm not going to waste any time out of my short life listening to a group of people who's greatest admiration is to Ronald Regan. Pathetic.
  • Personally, I was being a little sarcastic, but I think the guy before me was referring to how he feels about her social programs. The guy sounded a little conservative, and they usually don't like any kind of socialization since it is expensive and can be a burden on the tax payers.

In my opinion, I am not that super-keen on socialized medicine either since I think there are other ways to improve health care for all citizens. Yet, I am not totally against it either. I think the whole country just needs a serious overhaul. I am not sure just making health care socialized will necessarily fix our problems. It may even make it worse. But, that is another story.

    Take care my friend.
  • What Marxist program are you talking about? I dislike Hilary because she supported this war for way way too long. I've liked most of her domestic policies that I know about. All I can think of is Single Payer Health Care, which is hardly Marxist.
  • Richard -- Just for clarification, you meant Powers That Be don't want Obama? I have never seen PTB before, so I had to look it up.

Well, I hope not as I am not a fan of Clinton either. Yet, I don't know which I am more afraid of -- I another war with Iran as we continue to struggle with Iraq or a Marxist program as you pointed out. It's like choose one: Kicked in the balls, or poked in the eyes. Either one just plain sucks.

I just get pissed because the people that take a middle stance on their political ideology, don't get someone to represent them. It is either right or left with no center. I don't want to choose between the two. Damn it, I just get angry talking about this crap. Anyways, thanks for writing back. We all hope to hear from you again. Take care Richard.
  • I don't think the PTB want Obama. They would prefer a mature cynical bittch like Hillary whose husband has already served them faithfully. They will install her as the Democratic candidate, if only to spare them possibly having to do a JFK number on Obama, an idealistic youngster who might, after coming to the realization of who really controls this world's destiny, might become sufficiently revolted and disgusted as to try and throw some wrench into their plans.

I am a fan of the only non-warmonger among her potential oppenents, Ron Paul, and I am a passionate hater of Hillary's Marxist program for the futher destruction of the The Constitution and its first Ten Amendments.
  • Wow Richard, that was one hell of a comment. So, if I am reading this correctly, you are a fan of Hillary? Just kidding, no need to reiterate. Who said Clinton was going to be the Democratic presidential candidate anyways? Obama does have a pretty good chance. So, are you a fan of the war mongers or just a passionate hater of Hillary?
  • With three-fourths of the American people sick of this futile Iraq debacle, none of the other nine war mongers stands a chance against Clinton. And if that Chinese Communist worshipping globalist [deleted] gets into the White House we can either kiss our country good-bye or there will need to be the kind of a revolution that doesn't have "love" spelled backwards in it.
  • Jim West
Ron Paul should NOT be running as a Democrat. The situation in the GOP is perfect for him. He will be able to monopolize all of the conservative anti-war votes while the pro-war votes will be divied up amongst all the other candidates thereby neutralizing them. Furthermore, Ron Paul is the most Regaanesque of all the candidates on the GOP side.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: Ron Paul should be running as a Democrat - he’s in the wrong party now. In fact, he has better chances of becoming a nominee in the Democrat Party! By the way, he's done, after that last debate!
  • It's obvious he's really starting to rattle them. We all owe Giuliani a great big "Thank you" for the gift of untold hundred's of thousands of dollars worth of Media attention he donated to Mr. Paul's campaign with his little outburst in the Fox debate!

For your enjoyment here is a 2 minute campaign video that I just posted yesterday on YouTube:
