A New Earth Like Planet! w/Life?

newplanet.jpgAccording to Nature.com, a third planet has been discovered orbiting one of our closest stellar neighbors, Gliese 581. This third planet has some of the best prospects for being a potential carrier for liquid water — the main ingredient to life. Gliese 581 is a red dwarf star and is approximately 20 light years away from Earth. The new planet is said to be 5.5 times the size of earth and is potentially a rocky planet. The reason for the excitement among the astronomers is it has the most amount of positive aspects for possible life.

Iraq Reporting: From an American Grandmother War Correspondent

war3.jpgI am always on the lookout for information on the Iraq War that hasn’t been filtered, massaged and censored to death, so when I came across a blog from a 64 year old American Grandma who is blogging directly from the war zone, I was intrigued. I read through volumes of her fascinating reporting to find out what is really going on and would like to pass this on to our readers. It is unpolished, raw reporting from a real person with boots on the ground. You will be surprised at what she has to say and what the Iraqi’s have to say who are living this hellish nightmare every day.

Where The Right Went Wrong: From a Former Neoconservative

francisfukuyama.jpegIn doing my research for What the White House Doesn’t Want You to Know, I came across a former Neoconservative, Francis Fukuyama, who has turned his back on his Neocon colleagues and is now speaking out about where they went wrong. In his latest book called, America at the Crossroads: Democracy, Power, and the Neoconservative Legacy, Fukuyama outlines his thinking. It is a fascinating look into what has happened to the Republican party that has turned so many people against them, even their own members including me.

Is there no end to what advertisers can exploit? Apparently not, because the new game seems to be your sense of smell.

In an article in the May, ‘07, Wired magazine, Sissel Tolaas, a Berlin chemist, is working on capturing scents in ways never thought of before.

China: Emerging New Superpower or Dead In Water?

china.jpgWith 1.3 billion people, $1.7 trillion in foreign trade, 2.2 million soldiers, and about 200 nuclear warheads, China seems to be positioning itself as an emerging superpower. As far as the average American is concerned, most think of China as a benign academic cottage industry, but with China’s new focus on growth at any cost, they are accelerating their position on the world stage. However, symptomatic of this new focus is a more sinister agenda that may startle the West and those unsuspecting governments who just haven’t seen it coming.

Why Are All Bees Dying?

bee.jpgRemember when Einstein said that “if the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left”? Well, it seems that this threat is at our door. Scientists are describing this as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) in which a hive’s inhabitants suddenly disappear. The vanished bees are never found and are assumed to have died singularly far from the hive. If you haven’t heard already, your obsessive cell phone usage may be the culprit.
