Another Hilarious Example of Desperate Republicans
This is really funny. It was reported in the political blog, Crooks and Liars that Republican Rep. Westmoreland argued that Al Gore was violating recently enacted ethics rules which bars former congressmen working as agents of a foreign government from being on the House floor. It appears that when Gore was asked to testify before Congress regarding global warming, he was visiting with former colleagues around lunchtime on the House floor. Well, according to Westmoreland, he was violating the law. It gets even sillier…
With Gore serving as an adviser to Britain on climate change, Westmoreland claimed that since he was working as an agent for a foreign government, he should be barred from the House floor. Being that Gore is playing an informal, unpaid role in assisting Britain, that he is not registered as a foreign agent with the Justice Department AND that he just so happens to be the former Vice President of the United States, doesn’t seem to matter to Westmoreland.
He just went on flapping his gums about how the Democrats enacted these new rules and that they don’t even pay attention to them. (Imagine a Republican criticizing someone for breaking the rules…uh, what about violating the Constitution, human rights and torture, and not to mention warrantless wiretapping? That’s just plain laughable).
You know it’s always funny to me how facts just seem to get in the way of Republicans’ agenda. But with Republicans’ dismal approval ratings languishing around 30%, it illustrates just how desperate they have become. They will do anything, say anything and outright ignore the facts, to attack anyone they don’t agree with. It’s pathetic.
