Cosmic Mysteries Solved With Parallel Universes? Part Two

Big Bang Singularity Solved?
In part one of this article we went over the history of the Big Bang, the holes in the theory and how scientists have tried to piece together an answer to the mysteries. Let’s go over some of the basics.
We have discovered all kinds of evidence for a theory that explains how the Universe was created. Background radiation, red-shifted galaxies and an ever-expanding space, all point to a Universe that was created in a single point with an extraordinary burst of energy. But, some problems come along with this theory. Even with all the scientists in the world trying to figure out the math to this theory, it always falls apart right before we get to the point of the bang, also called the singularity.

Jim Webb vs Corporate Greed
After listening to Senator Jim Webb’s Democratic rebuttal following Bush’s State of the Union address, I was moved by his statements regarding the despicable corporate greed and its effects on the working man. I couldn’t agree with him more. I, too, remember when corporate CEOs made a handsome living of 20 times the average employee but now are rewarded with outlandish salaries and bonuses of 400 times the salaries of these same employees. This is representative of what has happened in this country since the neocons and the Republican protractors ground the middle class into mincemeat.

Bush’s State of the Union — Should We Accept His Words?
President Bush’s State of the Union address should be more aptly named — State of the Disunion address. What this president has done is to single-handedly turn 60% of the population of this country against him.
Let’s quickly review what this ‘worst president of all times’ has done

Big Oil and Sierra Club — Unlikely Partners in Energy
Ironically in an article in Feb. 07, Wired magazine, it quoted that “the flower of sustainable energy is blooming in oil country. Get ready for the Great Texas Wind Rush.” The funny thing about this is that the partners who usually sit on the opposite sides of the energy debate, have come together to make it happen. One is an investor who spent four decades designing oil platforms, drilling rigs and pipelines for big oil with his latest venture being a $45 million project for Nigerian oil company. And, the other is a Cadillac dealer, Boy Scout troop leader and chair of the local Sierra Club chapter. How did these two divergent thinkers get together to promote clean energy?
New Research: Secrets to Anti-Aging Revealed!
On Nova ScienceNOW a special about longevity and anti-aging was front and center. Dr. Nir Barzilai, the Director of the Institute for Aging Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, has been doing his diligent research on a select group of Ashkenazi Jews. This particular group of people have something very unique about their life — their 100+ year life that is! They are called centenarians and are defined by 100+ year life span. Dr. Barzilai wanted to figure out what makes these centenarians different than the average Joe/Jane. Let’s review their amazing discoveries, then I will discuss how you can replicate them.

Is Your Dog Smarter Than You Think?
I know there are people out there who think that when they talk to their dog that their dog actually ‘knows’ what they are saying to them. I have always been a skeptic of this claim by dog owners. But in an article in the Oct. ‘06, issue of Scientific American Mind, maybe they do know what we mean. Scientists are finding that animals lower on the evolutionary scale may have far more sophisticated communication skills than we give them credit for and may have the comprehension necessary for language, even though they cannot actually talk themselves. What has come from an European TV game show has them re-thinking linguistic skills of dogs…

Priceless Knowledge: History Foretells Future for Iraq
When I look at President Bush mulling over America’s fate in Iraq and demanding no less than victory, I can’t help but get extremely annoyed at the fact that neither he, nor any of his military geniuses, have learned anything from the past. In the history of this area, and particularly Iraq, there exists a very troubling, turbulent and volatile era lasting for hundreds of years sustained by never-ending tribal warfare. Due to this tumultuous history, European nations such as Britain and France found out through much pain and sacrifice, that the Arabs of the region were basically ungovernable.

Can Brown be the Next Green Energy?
Dairy farmers are finding that they can make almost as much money from manure from their cows as selling their milk. As reported in AG Information News, Dennis Haubenschild’s dairy cows were earning him 40 cents a day from their milk and 30 cents a day from their poop. Dairy farmers are producing methane for power plants from their cow manure. Haubenschild said that sales of electricity average about $900 a week — nice profit from poop, I would say. With the 760 cows on the farm, they produce enough methane for electricity to run the entire farm, plus 78 average homes.
